The Preschool room, have been talking lots about Builders, and how they use “big person” tools.
We like to foster interest’s at our setting, so after sitting down with all the children and talking to them about what rules we might need to make if we are using Grown up Tools, how to be safe and what we would like to do with the tools, we brought in some Hammers, Screw drivers, Chunks of wood, small nails and made a special Wood working area. The area was 1-1 with a child and an adult and sectioned off with our special Red and White stripe builders tape!
The preschool room have not only started self serving their lunch, so they can make healthy choices about what food they eat and trying new flavours. But they also now clean their own faces after eating.
This has helped the children begin to learn some wonderful Self Care Skills and lots of Independence.
Fairies and a magical world has landed in preschool!
The children have been exploring Toadstools, Fairy kingdom’s, castles, pine cone people, glitter, things that glow and much much more!
Some of our youngest children have started learning and exploring things all to do with Chinese new year.
Working together with their key person, they have made some fantastic paper chain dragons
Next week… we are going to add a whole new experience to the Sensory play tubs and put coloured noodles! Photos to follow!
We are very pleased to announce that we now have 2 outside providers that come to us each week, to enhance the nursery provision for all the children.
We have Madame Mitchell who comes to teach the children French in the preschool room.
The Preschool Children, are fascinated by Madame Mitchell’s accent and copying her special words. Its been wonderful to listen to the children already saying Bonjour to each other and counting along in French.
And we have Jo Jingles… the children just love Jingling along with Juliet and learning new fun songs and moving in lots of ways!
if you would like to know more about what Juliet does please click on her link www.jojingles.com/tunbridgewells
Recently we had some special visitors …
On Tuesday 29th August we had the Tunbridge Wells Fire Service come to visit! 4 Firemen came to see us, and showed the children all round the fire engine and let them sit inside. They also let the children and the staff have a turn at knocking over their special bucket with the water hose! (you never know we may have some young fire-fighters in our group!)
Does your child use a dummy for comfort? Is your child beginning to babble and talk?
Our Deputy Manager/ Baby Room Leader Emma, has created this simple and informative leaflet for Parents and Carers to share some information we know as practitioners.
We have recently introduced a new Autumn Tea and Snack Menu.
We have taken the whole summer to discuss this; taking into account healthy but well loved food for children. This helps the children to enjoy their food and also learn about different textures and flavours. We have a made a well-balanced menu incorporating different types of meat and vegetables, so children have the correct nutritional balance on a weekly basis.
We want to share some of our new recipes with families… maybe you can try making them at home with your children!
