‘When I think of how much my child loves going to nursery and how well they are cared for, it honestly makes me well up! I feel like the staff have really taken the time to get to know my child, that they are valued and encouraged at every turn. The fact my child is so well looked after when I can’t truly means the world’
‘My child loves it there, always excited to go in, in the morning and happy when I pick them up’
‘Our child has grown in confidence and it’s clear that they are learning lots of new skills at nursery’
Little Oaks and Preschool
The room is separated into two large open plan rooms, little oaks (our rising preschoolers) and preschool, with free flow access to the garden. This space offers so many opportunities for active learning, experimentation, self expression and peer-on -peer interactions and that all important play. This is a special time for children as they are often approaching the year before they transition to School, and our highly knowledgeable team of staff support each individual child on their journey to school readiness. We are proud to have a child-led approach to our planning, putting the children’s interests and personal learning at the heart of what we do everyday.
The large role play area offers plenty of opportunities for imaginative play both as a home corner and an area that is for the children to choose depending on their interests. Wonderful activities are changed daily to encourage development in all areas of the curriculum through awe inspiring creativity and variety. Self service snack, regular cooking and tea making opportunities give children the chance to gain some practical skills, whilst making healthy choices.
Once again, this room benefits from access to a kitchen, a dedicated nappy change area and a toilet area that is fully accessible for young children as they start to gain the confidence and skill in self care.
In preschool at Forest Park, we focus on preparing the children for school. Children love learning through play and in preschool this is critical in developing their school readiness. Through our specially tailored school readiness plan and incremental expectations, we help each child to flourish, focusing on life skills, independence and sparking a love of learning through curiosity and child-led learning. We focus on the holistic development of each child and add numbers, letters and shapes into our everyday activities. We support children to develop a positive ‘have a go’ attitude, where children are not afraid to make mistakes. By having strong links with the local schools, we aid transition helping to make the step into big school as smooth as possible.
